Radiohead's Thom Yorke Gets Political (Again)

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke is once again speaking out against the U.S. government and has voiced his opinion in a November 28 rant on the Radiohead website.

Appalled by the American stance on environmental issues, Yorke wrote: "So the UN are meeting in Montreal to decide what to do after the Kyoto protocol, and already the US administration has buried its witless head in the fucking sand, refusing to take part. You can even see the strings being pulled. This is a true evil.

"Business leaders are meeting Tony Blair tomorrow to express their concern about gas supplies. Fuck business leaders, what about the rest of us?"

In closing, Yorke stated: "If every property in the country had solar panels or mini wind turbines, just like it had a water supply and a satellite dish, perhaps we wouldn't need new nuclear power stations that we can't afford to please these fucking business leaders."

This latest outburst should come as no surprise to anyone who follows Radiohead, as Yorke makes no effort to hide his opinions. He was recently chosen by a U.K. environmental group to visit British PM Tony Blair to discuss climate change. Yorke commented that it looked like "the American right have finally eaten his (Blair's) mind."

Radiohead have been hard at work in the studio, as the band contributed a song to a War Child benefit album and are recording a new album that's set for release early next year.
